On Wednesday 22nd June, Otis Bolamu, a long time member and advocate from Swansea, visited Richmond Park School in Carmarthen, the first school in Carmarthen to achieve a School of Sanctuary Award.
He was invited to participate in the school’s Refugee Week celebrations, and to promote the City of Sanctuary vision. Otis speaks of how he had been removed from Swansea and detained for deportation but how many people had signed a petition for his return to Swansea until his appeal is heard. Otis is known for his bright colourful tshirts that he has made over the years to thank those who helped him, he uses his inspiring story to encourage the school children to make their own t-shirts.
Otis posted:
“From hardship to positive contribution in the U.K, yesterday I was invited to Richmond Park School, SA31 1NB with students from different classes during this Refugee Week…experience counts, this is the story of my T-Shirt. Featured!”
