Mourn the Victims and Resist Racism

The following text was a speech made by Martha, one of our Management Committee Members, at a Cardiff Rally on 3rd July 2024.

Today we stand with Southport as we share their pain. We all have a right to life and to live in peace. We understand how devastating this incident is to the affected families. This behaviour is very evil, disgusting and appalling. Like everyone, I grieve for those innocent children who were murdered. Our thoughts remain with the affected families. As people seeking sanctuary, we are human beings and parents just like all of you. We all deserve safety, dignity and a fair chance to succeed in life.

Together we must stand against the scapegoating and false labelling of sanctuary seekers by saying NO to Criminalism, Racism, Fascism, Xenophobia and Islamophobia. No to Hooliganism, Thuggery, Terrorism and Radicalism. We must stand for human rights, freedom, justice and protection of all.

The Nation Of Sanctuary agenda must continue and it must be protected because sanctuary seekers are not criminals but human beings who deserve respect and protection. People seeking sanctuary are not perpetrators of violence but survivors of it.

The police have quashed all speculations and allegations on terrorism and the false labelling of migrants. These killings have nothing to do with people seeking sanctuary in the UK. Media allegations that the suspect is a radical islamist migrant is clearly unfounded. The far right groups should not use this incident to promote their inhumane agenda. It is very wrong to falsely apportion blame, express hatred and label innocent people.

An awful individual has carried out his evil agenda and this doesn’t represent any group seeking sanctuary in the UK. We request an unbiased and unperturbed justice for the victims. The government must bring to book the culprit of such ferocious murder. Promoters of violent public disorder and assault should face the full force of the law.

We all have a right and duty to safeguard each other and express solidarity in situations of pain like this. Let us focus on making our communities safe for everyone by building strong bonds of love to chase out breeders of hatred and criminality. S

top these callous and harrowing killings. Stop these ferocious and vicious attacks. Stop sowing seeds of hatred and discord.

We shall continue to pray for a speedy recovery of the injured and those in critical conditions for THE PAIN OF ONE IS THE PAIN OF ALL.
