Vacancies Now Open!

As 2023 comes to an end, we are excited to announce the available roles within our organisation for 2024.

We are sadly saying goodbye to our wonderful Co-Chair and one of the Swansea City of Sanctuary founders, Alan Thomas, who has been part of our organisation since the very start.

If you have experience within the sector, or are passionate about the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in our community, then please consider applying. We especially encourage those with lived experience of seeking asylum to apply to these roles.

Chair / Co-Chair

Position Type: Part-time, 1 day a week (Unpaid)
Location: Working from home with at least one in-person meeting per month at SA1 3EU
Application Deadline: Ongoing

We are looking for somebody who has good knowledge of the City of Sanctuary movement and the current network within Swansea. The Chair is responsible for leading Management Committee meetings, and sets the agenda with our ‘Exec’ Group (made up of all the Secretary, Treasurer and Admin). The Chair is often expected to speak at public events and will be invited to various events organised by organisations within our network. Our Chair will be supported by our Exec group in their new role, who currently meet weekly. The Chair will be supporting us in our application to become a registered Charity, one of our aims for 2024, so experience in this process is desirable (but not essential).

Secretary

We are looking for an organised individual with good communication skills, who is passionate about our work. The Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our programmes and activities by overseeing administrative tasks and facilitating communication within the organisation and with external stakeholders. The Secretary ensures meetings are effectively organised and minuted, and maintains effective records and administration. We currently have a paid Administrator undertaking primary administration tasks, who will be directed and overseen by the Secretary. Our Secretary will be supported by our Exec group in their new role, who currently meet weekly. The Secretary will be supporting us in our application to become a registered Charity, one of our aims for 2024, so experience in this process is desirable (but not essential).
