As you drop down to Cilibion from Cefn Bryn, many of you may have noticed signs to Down to Earth’ by a track disappearing off into the trees. You may have thought ‘ I wonder what’s going on there then?’ Well now is your chance to find out! We‘re holding a Celebration/Open Day so that everyone can see what we’ve been doing. So please mark your diaries, it would be great to see you there.

For a little more info, please read on…

A little about who Down to Earth are;

Down to Earth Project is an award winning not-for-profit education organisation specialising in working with ‘hard to reach’ and ‘disadvantaged’ groups through the outdoors… with personal development at the very centre, we support individuals and groups through practical, hands-on sustainability… Basically, it just so happens that being outdoors and actually doing sustainability is great for increasing quality of life and well-being … in other words, it helps you feel better about yourself… we offer a “solutions based approach” and try to inspire change in the people we work with… through this approach, we support and engage people who are often ignored or who don’t fit the current educational/work/life model… – See more at https://www.downtoearthproject.org.uk

And a Little bit about the ‘Building Community’ project at Little Bryn Gwyn;

“Building Community” is an ambitious 3 year project aimed at engaging and supporting ‘hard to reach’ participants through building a new sustainable training centre. The project is funded by the Big Lottery People and Places Fund, and provides an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to get involved in building on a live construction site, with the aim of developing new practical skills, increasing personal development and improving social skills.

A lot has happened over the first year of the project: from seeing the raising of the round pole timber frame, a grass roof system put into place, and a straw bale wall with a clay plaster.

We have just entered the 2nd  year where we will really see the building and surrounding land taking shape.
