We’re delighted to invite you to the Swansea City of Sanctuary Supporters’ Event: From Pledges to Progress.
Join us to celebrate 15 years of Sanctuary in Swansea and help plan for another 15! Together, we’ll explore what sanctuary has meant to us, where we’ve made impact, and how we build the movement we need for the future in the face of the current hostile climate.
Date: Saturday 20th September 2025
Time: 13:30 – 17:00
Venue: Ocean Room, National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, SA1 3RD
Expect powerful storytelling, honest reflection, and practical workshops on strategic messaging, membership, and public mobilisation. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or are newly involved, your voice matters.
What to bring:
- Your reflections (we’ll send a short pre-event pack on 13th)
- Your energy and ideas
- A readiness to shape the next chapter of sanctuary in Swansea
RSVP through the ‘register now’ button below by Monday 15th September.

Special General Meeting (SGM)
In line with our constitution, we are also giving formal notice of a Special General Meeting of Swansea City of Sanctuary, to be held at the start of the event (13:30, once we have sufficient Members present).
This short, formal meeting is required because Swansea City of Sanctuary is now registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO, Charity Number 1214503). This means the ‘old’ Swansea City of Sanctuary association will formally come to an end, and all activities, assets, and Memberships will continue seamlessly under the new CIO.
The agenda for the meeting includes two resolutions, which Members will be asked to vote on:
- To dissolve Swansea City of Sanctuary (unincorporated association) in line with our 2012 constitution.
- To transfer all remaining assets to Swansea City of Sanctuary CIO (Charity number 1214503).
If you are part of a SCoS Member Organisation, please note that each organisation is entitled to one vote. A designated individual from your organisation must be identified to cast this vote on the day.
Warm regards, Tom Avery
On behalf of Swansea City of Sanctuary
PS: If you cannot attend (but we hope you will, if possible) please let us have your reflections and thoughts anyway. Your input is essential.
