News from Swansea Refugee & Asylum Seeker Advocacy Forum

The Swansea Refugee & Asylum Seeker Advocacy Forum has been meeting for just over a year. The purpose of the group is to provide a space for people seeking sanctuary to discuss the issues of most importance to them and engage directly with service providers and policy makers to seek to influence change. Recently they have taken the decision to start producing newsletters to record and share their discussions.

Forum members requested that such articles be sent out to the wider sector and public as a way in which to have their voices heard by a larger audience, with the potential that their comments may be useful for changes in the sector or system and to promote the development of new work streams or projects. As such, please take a few minutes to read this newsletter and share with anyone who would find it interesting or useful.

Leila Usmani, the previous Engagement & Training Officer at DPIA for the Asylum Rights Project has now left for a new job (Congratulations to Leila on her new endeavour). However the forum meetings will be continued monthly with the support of Swansea City of Sanctuary and a new DPIA staff memberĀ for the Asylum Rights Project will be appointed in due course.
