Interpreters in the Community Discussion Forum

INVITATION TO “INTERPRETERS IN THE COMMUNITY” DISCUSSION FORUM

SWANSEA UNIVERSITY’S

DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES, TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING

CORDIALLY INVITES YOU TO JOIN US FOR THE SECOND

“INTERPRETERS IN THE COMMUNITY” DISCUSSION FORUM

ON SATURDAY 26TH OF AUGUST

Interpreters in the Community means: people who translate/interpret for their families, friends and other people, without being paid for their services.

Do you have experience of translating and interpreting for people such as: going with them to appointments, being telephoned by them to interpret, reading letters, filling in forms, making phone calls for them, helping them with problems?  Then we invite you to come and share your experiences.

You can be an Interpreter in the Community with or without any professional training and qualifications in translation and interpreting.

You might also translate/interpret on a paid basis, as well as doing unpaid/voluntary work. You could be young or old, rich or poor…

WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN THE DISCUSSION FORUM?

Help us to build a community network of Interpreters in the Community in Wales.

Contribute to a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by Interpreters in the Community.

Identify the needs of Interpreters in the Community, help us create appropriate resources, and make recommendations for government policy.
